Microsoft: the 30 million sale slide is not true

29 May, 2010 Posted by As News (0) Comment

Yesterday, it was being reported that Microsoft aims to sell about 30 million Windows Phones by 2011. The slide was presented by Microsoft at ReMix conference in Paris. Microsoft clears all the rumors by saying that IDC, a research company had forecasted that by 2011, ‘30 million’ phones will have Windows phone as its OS and not just Windows Phone 7.

Microsoft says- “At the ReMix conference in Paris, Microsoft presented a slide projecting the number of Windows Phone 7 [devices] to be sold in 2011. This slide was inaccurate, and intended to represent an analyst’s assessment of the market opportunity."

The 30 million includes the Windows Mobile OSs released till now. IDC is still to make any analysis regarding Windows Phone 7 and said it will make the forecast once it releases. Microsoft will be presenting the forecasts in Q4.
