Which Windows Phone is the one for me?
There is no doubt in the mobile industry that Microsoft has finally got back in the saddle after a few years wandering the wilderness and watching its share of handset sales fall. Windows Phone 7 is here, with a diverse array of manufacturers offering smartphones based on this modern, user friendly platform. To help you decide, let us take a look at the best Windows Phone smartphones available today.
Samsung Omnia 7
The Omnia 7 is handsome from the front thanks to its tough gorilla glass layer and smooth black curves. It is less alluring at the rear, but you will easily forget about its looks as soon as you power it on and bask in the glory of its four inch Super AMOLED display. This makes the colorful home screen tiles of Windows Phone come to life and web pages also look crisp and clear, while legibility in daylight is at the top of the class. It has the standard five megapixel camera with HD video capture that is required on all Windows Phone 7 smartphones and it also has a nippy 1GHz processor to keep in line with the minimum specs of the platform.
HTC HD7
With a 4.3 inch display the HD7 gives you the largest viewing area of any of the Windows Phone 7 smartphones. It is not quite in the same league as the Super AMOLED display of the Omnia 7, but if you need that extra room for viewing photos and watching videos then it will be a welcome sight.
LG Optimus 7
With 16GB of storage as standard the Optimus 7 does a good job of giving you the freedom to download and capture to your heart’s content without filling up. DLNA compatibility means it is easy to stream content from your phone to a computer or TV with the same functionality. Its 3.8 inch touchscreen display is a little above the minimum specs required and is very responsive to the touch.
Dell Venue Pro
The first of the Windows Phone 7 smartphones to sport a full QWERTY keypad hidden beneath its display, the Venue Pro is aimed at appeasing enterprise users who want to get in on the act. Its 4.1 inch AMOLED display is another noteworthy feature, but the slider mechanism and portrait kepad does make it a little bulkier than its touchscreen-only rivals.
HTC 7 Pro
The 7 Pro is the only major competitor for the Venue Pro when it comes to interface. It has a full landscape QWERTY keypad, giving you plenty of big buttons to get your fingers around. It also has a 3.6 inch display which is held at an angle when the keyboard is revealed, allowing you to get a more comfortable view of the screen when you are typing long messages or browsing the web.
HTC 7 Mozart
Its eight megapixel camera allows the Mozart to stand out as the premier photography fan’s handset of choice amongst the other Windows Phone 7 smartphones, giving you a suitably broad selection to choose form and hopefully keeping many different users happy.
