The Windows Mobile 6.1 equipped Smartbook that is an MID is here. Specs include 624MHz processor and 5 inch touchscreen with 800X480 resolution. While the battery life is quite good (1900mAh), the disappointment gets down to the OS and the fact that it cannot handle more than the WVGA resolution.

Qualcomm’s Toshiba TG01 has been named the first ‘Smartbook’ by its Senior Director of Marketing and Development in an interview. He coined up this inquisitive word Smartbook saying that it is something that's an amalgam of a powerful notebook permanently connected to the internet.

In an interview to Mobinnaute, the senior director unveiled his plans to access your emails without any need of rebooting your machine.

Have a look at how the ‘smart’-book can prove to be resourceful as well:

easy email accessibility

24X7 connectivity-GSM, Wifi, GPS

screen sizes ranging from 7 to 11 inches

expected battery life of one day

1 GHz processor

1280x768 pixels resolution

Supports Full HD decoding (720p)

With plans of marketing in late 2009 or early 2010, these have the possibility of coming in different segments including the likes of social networking, multimedia and gaming. The brand-new Toshiba TG01 equipped Snapdragon plans to bridge the gap between the mobile-world and the world;and is proposed to have price of 500-600 Euros. Offering a tough fight, Qualcomm is surely for a ‘smart’ business here!

The Verizon's Touch Diamond looks exactly the same as the unbranded version of the Touch Diamond. Unlike other US carriers, they did not completly change the looks of the original HTC DIAMOND. That said, Verizon listened to the complaints of the original HTC Diamond owners regarding the battery life and they spruced up the capacity to 1340mAh, which is nearly 50% more than the original Touch Diamond battery.

But, they have taken away the intenal 4GB flash memory. Instead, you now have a micro-SD card slot.
