IM+ now supports speech recognition

4 May, 2009 Posted by As App (0) Comment

With speech recognition now supported in IM+, you can now send messages (as text) to your IM friends without even touching the keyboard at all!

IM+ with speech recognition will allow users to dictate their instant messages and send them as text to their contacts in Facebook®, AIM®/iChat, MSN®/Windows Live™ Messenger, Yahoo!®, ICQ®, Jabber®, Google Talk™ and MySpaceIM. Recent studies indicate that over 70% of consumers prefer using voice to interact with their mobile devices rather than typing. Speech-enablement increases message creation speed and greatly improves the usability of instant messaging on mobile devices.

“Recent announcements on speech-enabled mobile applications by Google and Microsoft demonstrate that consumers readily embrace voice as input for their mobile applications and progressive vendors are ready to respond,” said Felix Gofman, VP of worldwide business development for Yap. “We are thrilled to be working with innovative companies like SHAPE Services to speech-enable mobile messaging applications, because we know that fast, highly accurate speech recognition technology is the best way to deliver a premier user experience and a better way of interacting with mobile devices.”

However, its high price tag of $39.95 is surely going to turn off a lot of users.

ASUS P565 review

2 May, 2009 Posted by As Asus (1) Comment

The ASUS P565 is a windows mobile device that is using the fastest processor for mobile phones. ASUS even advertises it as the world’s fastest PDA-phone. Well, it should be fastest Windows Mobile phone and not the fastest PDA-phone. With a 800MHz processor in it’s heart, the ASUS P565 surely promises great speed.

HTC TOUCH PRO 2 review

24 April, 2009 Posted by As HTC (1) Comment

HTC TOUCH PRO 2 has been one of the most awaited devices of 2009. Immediately after its announcement at MWC, 2009, people have been waiting badly to know more about this device.

Folks at mobile-review have done a huge review of the HTC TOUCH PRO 2. Unfortunately, the review is in Russian, but thanks to Google Translate, we were able to make out what the reviewer was trying to convey.

touch-pro-2

Here are some notable points from the review:

  • HTC TOUCH PRO 2 is not a light device by any means: 176gm. If you want to go light, go for HTC TOUCH DIAMOND 2 (reviewed here)
  • There is still NO 3.5mm headphone jack. I’m still unable to make out, why HTC is ignoring this part so much. This can turn off a lot of music fans. If Apple was able to squeeze in 3.5mm jack into the slim body of iPhone and iPod Touch, then why the HTC is ignoring this part?
  • Stylus is non-telescopic
  • MOST user friendly QWERTY keyboard
  • Even though the HTC TOUCH PRO 2 is equipped with a good capacity battery, 1550mAh, it still gives pathetic battery life of just half-day
