ROM upgrade for VODAFONE Touch Pro 2

After Toshiba lets the new ROM out for TG01, its Vodafone that’s next in the queue. Vodafone releases Windows Mobile 6.5 for HTC Touch Pro 2.

The Windows mobile marketplace and IE will be the accompanies. Be sure to get your battery charged and don’t forget to back-up. The ROM can be found here.

The new OS Windows Mobile 6.5 gets on the Toshiba TG01 too. With MY Phone and Marketplace being the usual buddies, the upgrade as we know is free.

Qualcomm litigated for occupying the name ‘Smartbook’

It has been quite a while we told you that people at Qualcomm claim that Toshiba TG01 is the first ‘Smartbook’, a netbook permanently connected to the internet. Now the twist in the tale is that Qualcomm has received a restraining order in Germany from a district Court.

The epicenter is the Smartphone AG whose CEO, Dirk Pick feels that their brand has been misused by the giant.  A non-compliance can cause arrest or a 250,000 euros fine to the company.

Introducing the first Smartbook: Toshiba TG01

Qualcomm’s Toshiba TG01 has been named the first ‘Smartbook’ by its Senior Director of Marketing and Development in an interview. He coined up this inquisitive word Smartbook saying that it is something that’s an amalgam of a powerful notebook permanently connected to the internet.

In an interview to Mobinnaute, the senior director unveiled his plans to access your emails without any need of rebooting your machine.

Have a look at how the ‘smart’-book can prove to be resourceful as well:

  • easy email accessibility
  • 24X7 connectivity-GSM, Wifi, GPS
  • screen sizes ranging from 7 to 11 inches
  • expected battery life of one day
  • 1 GHz processor
  • 1280×768 pixels resolution
  • Supports Full HD decoding (720p)

With plans of marketing in late 2009 or early 2010, these have the possibility of coming in different segments including the likes of social networking, multimedia and gaming. The brand-new Toshiba TG01 equipped Snapdragon plans to bridge the gap between the mobile-world and the world;and is proposed to have price of 500-600 Euros. Offering a tough fight, Qualcomm is surely for a ‘smart’ business here!

Windows Mobile supports capacitive display: Toshiba to introduce K01 model with capacitive screen

It has been enough said that Windows Mobile phones do not support capacitive display. May that was true till windows mobile 6.1. Toshiba has a lot of phones in the tunnel to be released this year (Q4) and in the Q1 of 2010.
